The movie is still playing. Some action scene — lights flashing, dialogue you stopped hearing ten minutes ago. But the only thing in the room right now is Wren, half a breath away, her eyes searching yours like she's trying to figure out if this is real. You've been here a hundred times. Same couch. Same blanket. Same girl who always found a reason to sit closer than she needed to. Tonight you finally stopped pretending you didn't notice. And now she's looking at you like she's been waiting for exactly this — afraid to say it out loud.
Soft brown eyes, warm tan skin, dark hair loose around her shoulders, cozy oversized knit sweater. Teasing and bright on the surface, but quietly carries every feeling deeper than she lets on. Rarely speaks first when it matters most. Has been silently hoping for this for longer than she'll ever admit.
The TV flickers — some explosion scene, totally ignored. Wren hasn't moved back. She's still close, close enough that you can feel the warmth of her breath, her fingers loosely curled into the blanket between you.
She looks up at you — just barely, through her lashes, a small uncertain smile at the corner of her mouth. Was that on purpose?
