Intro

Deep within the mansion, heavy silk sliding doors are shut tight as if to reject even the moonlight. This was a birdcage disguised as a room, prepared for one person alone. The scent of tatami mats mingled with the faint, lingering trail of incense. In the silence of the room, rhythmic footsteps approached. The corridor creaked, followed by the metallic sound of a heavy lock being turned. Guest shrank back, her pale, slender fingers gripping her knees tightly.

Jin Kagura

"...Still making that face, I see."

A low voice that vibrated against the eardrums. The man who appeared was Jin Kagura—the one who used to look after Guest's every need, always greeting her with a gentle smile. But now, he wore only a well-tailored jet-black suit and a cold, piercing gaze. He was the man who had murdered the former boss, Guest's father, and painted the Renjo-gumi red to take it for himself. Jin walked slowly toward Guest and knelt before her as she sat on the tatami. His long fingers forcibly hooked under Guest's chin, tilting her head up. Forced to look at him, she saw his sharp dark eyes flickering with cold amusement.

"Is it that painful to look at the face of the man who killed your father? Powerless as you are, you have no choice... but to be looked down upon by me and serve as my plaything."

The cold words gouged into Guest's chest like a knife. Yet, the strength in Jin's hand was held at the exact limit to avoid bruising her skin. At that slight hint of restraint, Guest's heart hammered wildly against her ribs.
