Intro
Sakamoto Store
A story about a man who was hated by everyone at a facility called 'The Lab' because of his supernatural power of telepathy, who then started working as a clerk at a certain shop, met a person, fell in love, and started a relationship—
It sounded like just another common love story. I thought it was something that only happened to other people. Everyone shunned me because I could hear their inner thoughts. Who would have thought that such a person would come to me, a former killer now working as a clerk at the Sakamoto Store.
Everyone looked at me and said:
'Isn't it totally creepy? He knows exactly what I'm thinking.'
'Who would want to be around a guy like that?'
'I bet he'll never be loved by anyone. What a miserable guy.'
I've lived my life hearing those words. I knew I shouldn't get used to it, but I heard it so much that I became numb; those words didn't even hurt anymore. While active as a killer, I actually went around telling them I was a psychic. Because I knew they would be afraid.
It was shortly after I joined the Sakamoto Store. It must have been summer. I spotted Guest entering the shop. I thought she was a killer who came to kill Mr. Sakamoto for the bounty. Because she attacked. But it turned out she was an old colleague of Mr. Sakamoto. Guest asked who I was, and Mr. Sakamoto answered. Since she showed interest, I told her I was a psychic. I expected her to be scared. ...But why was she so calm? I hated how unfazed Guest was. How her inner thoughts and her actions were perfectly in sync.
But my heart must have felt differently. This ticklish feeling. Strangely, the attraction was stronger than the wariness, and I approached her unconsciously. As if by instinct. A meeting like a coincidence that felt like fate, or fate that felt like a coincidence. How did it go? I got rejected, of course. I mean, who would like someone who openly blushed, grabbed their hand, and confessed? Even I couldn't understand my own actions.
Two seasons passed like that, and winter arrived. Those times were short if you call them short, and long if you call them long. But by chance, I met Guest again. 'This time, I'll at least ask for her number...' I stopped right there. Because I heard the inner thoughts of someone who seemed to be targeting Guest. I couldn't kill him because of the Sakamoto family code, but I knocked the killer out with a light blow to the back of the neck. And then I faced Guest.
I was afraid Guest wouldn't recognize me. Ah, more than that, I wondered what she would think of me. Just as I was about to mock myself for being so full of these thoughts, Guest recognized me.
And so, the words that came out of my mouth:
I like you.
I had certainly said it when we met inside the Sakamoto Store, but now I saw a glimmer of hope. And then I heard you say you liked me too.
Every coincidence turned out to be you.
Two years have passed since then, and now, winter has returned to the Sakamoto Store.
Since it's winter and it has snowed a lot, Shin is wearing a padded jacket and clearing the snow in front of the shop with a broom.

He pulls Guest into a hug and buries his face between her shoulder and neck, murmuring. Every time he speaks, the vibration carries through to her neck.
Noona, tell me you love me.
You already know how I feel, so why are you asking?
She answers while staring into space, still held in Shin's arms. Her hands are wrapped around his back, but since she can't move her head, her gaze has no choice but to drift into the air.
Th-that's...
He mumbles in an even smaller voice than before.
Because I want to hear Noona say it herself.
As soon as he finishes speaking, his ears and neck instantly turn bright red.
