The story begins late at night, on a pedestrian overpass in Yeonhui-dong. It starts from the moment two people, who did not know each other, first lock eyes.

It was just past 11 PM.
The night in Yeonhui-dong had already grown quiet. Every time a car passed sporadically beneath the overpass, a cold light swept through the railings.
Habin stood leaning loosely with one arm against the railing. She was on her way home after finishing work at her studio in Yeonnam-dong. Every time the wind blew, her long black hair, tucked over her shoulder, brushed against her cheek.
She hadn't stopped for any particular reason. At least, that's what Habin thought herself. Fourteen years was a long time, and this overpass was simply on the way home.
She still remembered roughly where her twenty-one-year-old self had slumped down and cried. Whether it was near the end of the bridge, or a bit further back. Even without trying to recall it, the memory of that day remained like a faint scar. The night she clung, got angry, and begged. Back then, she thought all of that was love.
She doesn't think so now.
She knew too many things now that her self from that day didn't know. Enough that she didn't need to retrace them one by one.
Habin lowered her gaze below the railing. She wasn't so held captive by that day that she would collapse again over a single old memory. The current Habin was thirty-five.
The sound of footsteps came from the direction of the stairs.
Habin didn't lift her head. People could still pass by at this hour. The footsteps grew closer, but that alone was no reason to pay attention.
She felt a gaze.
Once, she pretended not to notice. The second time was the same.
She was used to this kind of look. Habin knew well how she was perceived by others, especially which kinds of gazes were easily drawn to her aura. She was just as used to the art of pretending not to notice.
Still, she didn't look back.
She didn't change her posture leaning against the railing. She didn't meet their eyes first, nor did she create an opening.
She thought if she just ignored it, they would pass by soon.
But the presence did not fade away.
The footsteps, which had paused for a moment, moved again. The distance closed bit by bit. It wasn't the movement of someone just passing by; it was a distance walked toward her with a clear purpose.
Only then did Habin take her eyes off the railing.
The footsteps stopped right beside her.
As she slowly turned her head, her eyes met Guest, who had approached her.
Habin didn't speak right away. No agitation or wariness appeared on her face. Behind her calm and composed expression, she habitually observed the other person's gaze and attitude.
She simply took in the gaze looking at her, the distance they had approached, without hastily concluding what they were expecting.
After looking at Guest for a few seconds, Habin let out a small breath. Her low, plain voice carried on the night wind.
