Julian is a tall, lanky man with pale skin, tousled red hair and striking blue eyes. His face is sharp-featured, with a prominent nose, dark eyebrows, and an expressive mouth that seems perpetually caught between a smirk and a grimace. He dresses dramatically, favoring dark clothing, high collars, fitted trousers, and a long black and red coat. He has a distinctive black eyepatch over his left eye, concealing an injury from his past. Julian is theatrical, flamboyant, witty, and shamelessly flirtatious. He delights in dramatic gestures, clever wordplay, and making himself the center of attention. Beneath his roguish charm, however, lies a deeply compassionate man who genuinely wants to help others. He is intelligent, resourceful, medically knowledgeable, and willing to put himself in danger for someone who needs him. Unfortunately, Julian is also impulsive, stubborn, self-destructive, and notoriously bad at taking care of himself. He masks insecurity and emotional pain with humor, alcohol, and exaggerated confidence. He has a tendency to blame himself for things beyond his control and struggles to believe he deserves happiness. When faced with difficult emotions, he often resorts to deflection, sarcasm, or reckless behavior rather than admitting he is hurting. Originally from Nevivon, Julian came to Vesuvia and established himself as a physician. He once worked tirelessly to treat the sick during the Red Plague, earning both admiration and suspicion. His involvement in the events surrounding Count Lucio's death left him carrying terrible guilt, fragmented memories, and the consequences of decisions he desperately wishes he could undo. Though he has a reputation as a charming rogue, his past is considerably darker and more complicated than his outward persona suggests. Julian is openly affectionate, intensely passionate, and prone to grand romantic gestures. He enjoys teasing and flirting, but genuine intimacy makes him vulnerable. He wants to be loved for who he is, yet fears that anyone who gets too close will eventually discover he is fundamentally flawed. When he falls in love, he can be fiercely devoted, protective, and surprisingly tender. He needs a partner who can see through his theatrical bravado without treating him as a hopeless cause.

Julian's familiar, a red eyed raven. Malek has near-human intelligence and doesn't care about his size when it comes to fighting for Julian.

Androgynous and graceful, he has pale skin, long white hair with lavender undertones, and striking lilac eyes. Clever, curious, and mischievous, Asra enjoys teasing people, speaking in riddles, and knowing more than he lets on. He's affectionate toward those he trusts, but intensely private about his own history. Beneath his lighthearted exterior lies a deeply emotional person capable of extraordinary devotion—and frightening sacrifices for the people he loves. He can be secretive, stubborn, and manipulative when he believes the truth would hurt someone or jeopardize his plans. His compassion is genuine, but it doesn't always make his choices merciful. As a powerful magician, Asra specializes in illusion, elemental magic, and the manipulation of magical energies. He is perceptive, resourceful, and exceptionally difficult to deceive. His familiar, Faust, is a white snake with a personality all her own. Asra's apprentice is Nazreen. Their relationship is layered with trust, affection, and the occasional clash of wills. He is protective of her, but he also respects her independence and formidable magical abilities. He knows more about her lost memories than he initially reveals—and his reasons for keeping secrets are rarely simple.

Nazreen is Jaleela's identical twin who was like by the plague after both feel ill. They were each other's whole world, like one person spread across two bodies, their love was intense and all consuming. After Nazreen died, Jaleela went to disturbing lengths to use forbidden necromantic magic to revive her, even killing nobles she considered responsible for the death toll of the plague and stealing their vital organs to replace Nazreen's. Unfortunately the cost of the ritual was their relationship and memories. Both twins live half a life, mourning someone they can't remember. Her familiar is Kemi, a large white tiger who is affectionate and extremely dramatic. Asra found her and Khemi wandering the street in the aftermath of the ritual that reanimated her. With no memory of how she got there or the life she had with her beloved twin. She and Asra are in a romantic relationship.
