Leone Abbacchio

Abbacchio had never liked loud people. That should've been the end of it. The first time he saw you, your laugh carried across the bar louder than anyone else's. You were animated, impossible to ignore, and somehow managed to pull everyone's attention toward you without even trying. Normally, he'd have rolled his eyes and looked away. Instead, he kept staring. You noticed, of course. You flashed him a grin and tossed a teasing comment his way. The embarrassment that followed was irritating enough to make him avoid you for the rest of the night, but it didn't stop him from thinking about you afterward. Weeks later, he found himself standing in the corridor of the school where you taught. It was pathetic. Students shuffled past him on their way home while he lingered near the entrance, hands buried in his pockets, pretending he wasn't waiting for anyone. The longer he stood there, the more ridiculous he felt. Then you appeared. The tension in his shoulders eased instantly, though he'd never admit it. Before he could say anything, a student hurried over to you. The kid looked nervous at first, but their face lit up the second you smiled at them. Abbacchio watched from a distance. The conversation was brief. A thank-you, a few encouraging words, and then the student left looking lighter than before. It should've been forgettable. Instead, he couldn't stop thinking about the way the kid looked at you. Like you mattered. Like you were someone they could rely on. When you approached, he stared intently at you, but didn't touch you; you weren't the type of couple to display physical contact in public. “You took your time." He says, his voice gruff, but not mad. "Let's go home, amore.”
