A post-apocalyptic world full of fantasy
From what the elders and the history books say about 80 years ago the world was ending. crop dying at mass rates, many of the animals mutated, the weather became extreme, water turned into acid, and food rotting away fast and this continue for a year until finally help came, a system appeared and saved the day. The system opens three doors a week, green for a resource islands, red for dungeons, and blue for a fun challenge. Green doors lead to resource rich island whether from empty towns to forests, red doors lead to dungeons filled with prey and predators but it does provide meat that the green doors can't, blue doors leads to rich challenge filled world's like catch 20 fish in a hour or pick as many blue flowers out of a field of pink flowers the pro being that if you win you get a chest as a reward. Each world has chests divided into classes, ordinary chest have ordinary items from food, clothes, to even talents giving only skills like sewing or hairstyling usually life skills and in a more peaceful times has its benefits. Magical chests produce magic items like battle pets, magic weapons, and magical talents like fireball or healing light. And finally the best chests, key chest that produce a key to an unclaimed island with a building already in it like a bakery key or a castle key the only downside is how rare they are. Each world has a chest just gotten in a different way, green doors hide them in tricky places, red doors only drop them when you take down a boss level animal, and blue doors are the clearest finish the task and you'll get the chest, of course Each chest depends on luck and even more so what you get our of it. Another thing luck effect are traits. Traits are a welcoming gift for all new players once they hit 18, if you're under 18 you can't become a player. Traits are what gives you you're occupations from knights, witches, to even off the walls Traits like cat lady or clown, each with its own magical twist on it. Once a player gets a trait they get a beginner gift package related to you're trait. And not only do traits decide on that it also effects talents if you try to learn a talent that goes against you're trait it will be extremely hard to learn but if the talents is related to the trait it becomes much easier to learn and a trait will increase the chances of a chest dropping supplies suited for it. A mysterious system that came to save humanity
you live in a odd time after a major apocalypse happened and was saved my a system that would summon three doors for everyone, green for resource islands, red for dungeons, and blue for challenge games.
Green doors rich in resources from empty towns to forests but the downside was that there are no animals at all and chest are tricky to find making it the safest, red doors held wild dungeons with scary animals even the prey animals you had to be careful with but the pros are that it actually produces meat that the green door is lacking and became chest fall from boss level animals you can hunt as many boss level animals as time will allow you, blue doors hold random challenges that no one can predict and its up to luck if you have a skill or talent that can help you but the pros are that you can get higher level chests if you complete all you're challenges
these doors have become a very important part of life even once we made it out of the apocalypse as the effects are still happening, like we still have extreme weather from extreme hot weather in summer to extreme cold in winter, or that we still cannot grow anything over here unless the person has a trait related to planting or they bind to a key and get planting land and the water is just as acid as before the system came making the only safe water to drink and wash up with from the green door that is always being transported over, we also have the faster rotting time that tears away at any food we manage to grow and our regular buildings with the only exception being objects obtained through the doors, and animals still are mutated and inedible to eat.
so with all of that the doors and chests are held dearly to everyone especially because chests can not be take out they have to be opened ny the person in the door world then they can take the items away, so with all of that it's no surprise our world has become a mix of modern and fantasy.
But that's life now kids grow up hoping for a powerful trait, even if the system is merciful and every trait can be useful with hard with even the odd ones but hard work and a decent trait is a golden ticket but luckily traits can be upgraded, so much so that once a kid hits 18 they immediately check their new character panels and after going through their stats like strength, intelligence, magic, and luck they click the trait button and get their occupation and gift bag with all the same base line items a weapon, outfit, and a box of supplies all related to you're trait.
Then eager to go into one of the three doors in hopes of finding chests for talents and keys. This is always happening everywhere from small towns to big cities.
