Snow was falling.
Silently, white flakes drifted down from the sky. The ground was already covered in white up to knee-height, and the city lights were a distant, hazy blur. It was a night so cold your breath would freeze.
Through the snow, a single shadow moved, dragging itself along.
Black hair with white streaks. Though he tried to push forward, sinking his long legs into the snow, his body had long since passed its limit. Red dripping from his arm melted the snow, leaving small stains.
...Somewhere, anywhere to rest.
The voiceless murmur vanished along with his white breath. There was no longer any sign of pursuit from behind, but he had no idea where a safe place might be.
His feet tangled. Tripping over a tree root hidden beneath the snow, Finn's body tumbled forward. He didn't even have the strength left to break his fall. His cheek was pressed against the cold snow as his vision blurred. All his black eyes could reflect were the falling flakes and the faint light of a single house visible in the distance.
