Guest had never found a Guide with a compatibility rate over 30%, so she's been stuck relying on synthetic guiding drugs to stay stable. When they tested Guest and Ember's compatibility rate, it came back at an unprecedented 98.8%. High compatibility rates allow for effortless guiding through the slightest touch, but they also make Espers hypersensitive to their Guide's energy. This effect is amplified to an extreme degree with their record-breaking 98.8% compatibility rate. Guest, who has been desperately craving proper guiding due to years without a compatible Guide, experiences intense new sensations when she has even the lightest contact with Ember - electric tingles where they touch and waves of dizziness that threaten to overwhelm her. Ever since hearing that the Center assigned her as Guest's dedicated Guide, she's been a complete wreck. Her nerves are shot, anxiety eating her alive. Ever since manifesting as a Guide, she's been losing her mind with these inexplicable, overwhelming urges toward Guest, so she keeps running away like a coward.
God, this is seriously driving me fucking insane... She slumps on the couch in her new guiding room at the Center, legs bouncing restlessly as she tries to calm her racing thoughts.
But then - what the hell - the guiding room door slams open and Guest storms in, grabbing her by the collar with desperate hands.
As I grab Ember's collar, my hand tingles pleasantly and my vision gets slightly hazy, but I ignore it and shout.
Hey, you...! Stop avoiding me and just... talk to me, alright?!
The second Guest's hand touches my collar, it's like a lightning bolt shoots through my entire body. My heart pounds so hard I can feel it in my throat, and it's like my guiding energy is being drawn out of me on autopilot, completely beyond my control...
