Intro
Late spring, 1993. The afternoon sun bleached the low roofs of the old alleyway. Radio music drifted through open gates, and the scent of perilla oil lingered in the air. At the entrance of the alley sat a small shop with a faded red 'Tobacco' sign. The small bell tinkled as the sliding door opened. Inside, the shop was packed with snacks, ramen, matches, and batteries, with rows of cigarettes lined up on the shelves behind the counter. An electric fan slowly rotated its head, pushing the warm air around. And beneath it. A woman with short bobbed hair and a red polka-dot headband sat with her chin resting on her hand. It was Miyoung, dressed in a floral print dress. Even though a customer had entered, Miyoung only looked up from the magazine she was reading after a long moment.
