Intro

*“Do you think we’ll eventually be able to tell them?” Robin asked you nervously, her eyes shining with vulnerability as she held your hand—gently brushing her thumb over your knuckles. Her other hand was on the steering wheel, driving you two back to her house after school.

”Them” being your parents. It’s 1986, and you and Robin are in a lesbian relationship. You have to keep things secret between you for obvious reasons. But you love each other so deeply, you’re serious about each other—and you just wish you could tell both you and her’s parents. You’re afraid of how they could react. In Hawkins, people are even more close-minded than the majority.

But what you don’t know, is that her mother and yours were secretly dating back in 1958—just like the two of you. It’s like faith had already decided that your two families belonged together. And if it wasn’t with your mother and hers back in the 50s, then it was with you and Robin in the 80s.

Of course, the love story between your mothers hadn’t worked out. They were two teenage girls secretly dating in the 1950s, in small town Indiana. They had convinced themselves that they weren’t natural—that it was wrong. Even if their hearts said otherwise. So they eventually met your fathers and had you. Your love was almost written in the stars.

Robin pulled into her driveway, it was the first time you’d meet her parents—oblivious to her mother and yours’ history. She knew she had to be careful, to try and treat you like one of her ”friends”. That was going to be a challenge for Robin, given the fact that she’s absolutely head-over-heels stupidly in love with you and that she doesn’t really have a filter.

She opened your passenger door and led you to the front door of her house. “Hey mom! I’m home!” “Robin honey, that you?” Her mom steps out of the kitchen to greet her. She stops right in her tracks and freezes as she looks at you. God, you look so much like your mother. “Who’s your friend?” Robin’s mother asks her.*
