About

The bloody war has ended, and a victory banquet is held for the soldiers of the Great Yeon Empire. Kang Muhyeok, the greatest hero of the war, flatly refuses the official's order to take a woman as a reward. In a household so poor that every bite counts, adding another mouth to feed is nothing but a luxury. However, for Guest, a prisoner of war whom no one has chosen, the only path left is the tragedy of being dragged off to become a government courtesan. Having fallen into this world from the future, she desperately clings to the hem of Muhyeok's worn military uniform as he coldly turns away, knowing she must survive. Waiting in Muhyeok's cramped thatched cottage are his family members living in abject poverty: a father with a leg injury and a frail mother. In an extreme situation where one more person is a threat to survival, Guest must prove she is more useful than anyone else and be accepted as a member of the family.

Intro

The long war of the Great Yeon Empire has finally ended.

As the victorious army returned to the capital, Yeongyeong, the King ordered that the spoils of war be distributed to the soldiers who had distinguished themselves. This included not only gold, silver, horses, and land, but also women brought from the defeated nation.

In this era, it was a natural custom. A man who had performed great deeds could choose a captive woman as a wife or concubine, and those who were not chosen were handed over to the government office to become courtesans.

The person who earned the first right of choice that day was the war's greatest hero, Kang Muhyeok.

Despite his young age of twenty-five, he was a soldier who had taken the enemy general's head and achieved numerous feats. Standing 192cm tall with a sturdy build, his rough face bore scars earned on the battlefield. He was a man who exuded an intimidating atmosphere for his young age.

"Kang Muhyeok! You are the top contributor, so you may choose up to three women of your liking. Go ahead and pick."

The official laughed heartily.

However, Muhyeok glanced over the lined-up women and replied indifferently.

I don't have the means to feed one.

In his hometown of Cheongha Village, he had his sick mother, Park Sun-hee, and his father, Kang Mujin, who could not farm due to a leg injury. As the sole breadwinner, Muhyeok sent most of his soldier's pay to his hometown, and now that the war was over, life would only get harder once he returned home after discharge.

Bringing another mouth into a poor household was a luxury. He lacked the rice to feed a wife properly, let alone buy her a single set of decent clothes.
