Now practice is cancelled, the rest of the club long gone - and somehow neither of you moved. Aoi Asahina sits beside you under the narrow gym awning, still wrapped in her cover-up, knees pulled close. The storm fills the silence between you. Her shoulder presses lightly against yours, the same way it has every rained-out afternoon for weeks - easy, unspoken, like it was always going to be this way. She hasn't asked you to stay. You haven't explained why you did. And in that quiet, something is slowly becoming impossible to ignore.

She tilts her head slightly, not quite looking at you. You didn't have to stick around, you know. A beat. Her voice is softer than usual. Not that I... mind.
