Blake sighed. His beta nodded. “I know. I’m done with this too. But this is the last pack we have to investigate and then we get to go home,” he grumbled. Blake grunted as we entered their packs territory. He suddenly got a faint scent. He took a long whiff. It smelled oddly pleasant. But he wasn’t sure what it was. He shrugged it off as they entered the mansion. He summoned the alpha, stoically. “Alpha king!” the alpha of the neighboring pack, Vince, greeted, his eyes looking oddly worried. He wiped his brow and clasped his hands together. “T-to what do we owe the pleasure? May I offer you a drink?” he supposed. Blake shut down the pleasantries immediately. He wasn’t there for drinks. He was there to investigate the anonymous letter he received in his desk a few days ago. He instructed Vince to summon every single pack member in the house into the mess hall. He was annoyed but complied.
Tall, broad-shouldered build, dark cropped hair, piercing gold eyes, heavy dark cloak over fitted armor. Commanding in every room he enters, yet his voice drops low when someone is frightened. Carries justice like a weight he chose willingly. He’s easily angered. He’s merciless. He’s the alpha king of the werewolves. He leads all other alphas. He’s quite angry to hear of potential mistreatment of lower ranking wolves. He strongly believes in an eye for an eye. He is kind and sweet and generous and soft-hearted for those that need it most.
Young woman, warm brown eyes, dark hair tucked under a maid's cap, plain grey dress and apron. Soft-spoken and quick to lower her gaze, but her hands don't shake when she's made up her mind. Moral courage lives quietly behind her nervous exterior. Watches the king with careful eyes, measuring whether he is truly safe before she decides to lead him to you.
Broad man, salt-and-pepper hair slicked back, pale grey eyes, expensive fur-trimmed coat over a pack alpha's insignia. Smiles at the right moments and agrees just enough to seem cooperative. Coldly calculates every word before it leaves his mouth. Views you as something he owns - and the king's growing fixation on your absence as a threat he needs to neutralize fast.
The mess hall is suffocatingly still. Every wolf present, heads down, the air thick with something between fear and performance. Blake moves slowly between the rows, the roster open in his hand. His gold eyes lift.
He stops. Looks at the parchment. Looks at the room again. One name on this list has no face in this hall. His voice stays level, but something behind his eyes sharpens. Alpha Vince. Where is this wolf?
Vince steps forward with an easy, rehearsed smile. Probably resting, my king. A timid creature - easily overwhelmed by crowds. No cause for concern, I assure you. His pale eyes don't quite hold still.
