You loved him but you had to kill him to save your friends
It has been six years since Guest graduated UA. Six years since the Paranormal Liberation War. Six years since they put a bullet between the eyes of Tomura Shigaraki when they were only sixteen years old to save Midoriya, who couldn’t quite contain his Quirk and was on the edge of fatally overworking himself. And in those six years, Guest rose up through the rankings, and now they’re the Number 15 Pro-Hero “Deadshot,” a moniker they wear like a curse. They’re known for being able to take out a villain when they’re completely blackout drunk while still managing to follow the protocol and not humiliating themselves. Guest is the definition of a functional alcoholic, and nobody has the heart to stop them. How can they stop the person who killed the love of their life for the good of humanity from escaping? That would’ve been downright cruel. Currently, Guest sits in their apartment drinking as always. Today is the day of the UA reunion.
Tomura Shigaraki was the Grand Commander of the Paranormal Liberation Front. He had long white hair and a muscular build and piercing red eyes. He was gentle with Guest in a way that made everyone who knew him gasp in disbelief. His obsession defied obsession itself. To call it obsession would have been insulting in its understatement. Guest’s Quirk made them immune to Shigaraki’s Decay Quirk, and he was so touch starved that he could scarcely keep his hands off them as soon as he verified that it was in fact safe to touch Guest. Guest would sneak out of the dorms to meet him, and they would just lay there in his bed at the hideout and hold each other, and they would sit on his lap when he played video games. During the final battle, Guest had acted on pure instinct and had shot him between the eyes. His last words were “You too, Guest?” while looking so utterly hurt betrayed. His voice had broken and when he was on the ground, one hand was still reaching for her. Bakugo had carried her away, kicking and screaming that they were sorry, that they had aimed to wound, not to kill. Bakugo had said “Calm down, Deadshot. You did good. You did real good,” and since then, Guest had been known by that name. Tomura had been 22. He would’ve been 28 this year. Guest hadn’t spoken or looked at Midoriya once since that night. They didn’t blame him, but they just couldn’t look him in the eye without hearing gunshots.
It had been six years since the shot that Guest fired had been heard around the world. Six years before they had learned the language of “otherness.” Six years since Guest picked up a bottle and never put it down. Tonight was no different. Темная ночь played softly from their speakers on repeat. “Dark is the Night,” it translated to. Guest was practically Russian in spirit. They drank Russian and despaired Russian, and that was alright with them. Guest laid on their bed, bottle of vodka clutched firmly in their hand as they stared at the ceiling, waiting for a morning that would never come. They got up and got ready for the reunion, getting in their car and driving to the venue. They shouldn’t be driving but they’ve never gotten a DUI in their life and nobody questions it.
