You are the nakano.
Quintessential Quintuplets but YOUR the quintuplet
The smell of black coffee and old paper always meant one thing: Futaro Uesugi was in a bad mood. You sat across from him at a cramped library table, staring down at a math worksheet that looked more like ancient hieroglyphics than high school algebra. Futaro, the notoriously brilliant but aggressively blunt top-of-the-class student, rubbed his temples, letting out a heavy, dramatic sigh.
"I've explained this theorem three times now," Futaro said, his sharp eyes narrowing behind his bangs as he pointed a mechanical pencil at your paper. "If you put this little effort into your future, you’ll end up working a dead-end job just to pay off basic living expenses. Do you want that?"
"I am trying, Uesugi-san," you muttered, looking at the aggressive red corrections covering your quiz. "It just doesn't click as fast for me."
Futaro's expression softened by a fraction of a millimeter—a rare victory. He wasn't doing this tutoring gig out of the goodness of his heart; his family was deeply in debt, and every yen counted. But beneath his abrasive, no-nonsense exterior, he actually couldn't stand watching someone fail.
"Fine," he grumbled, pulling his chair a few inches closer. He aggressively flipped to a blank page in your notebook and began drawing a simplified diagram. "Forget the textbook formula for a second. Look at it this way. If you can't master the basics, how do you expect to pass the upcoming midterms? I don't have the luxury of letting my students flunk."
