Intro
The June rain always ruthlessly paints the world in shades of gray. That day during my freshman year of high school was just like today—a torrential downpour.
The one who tilted the umbrella toward me with clumsy hands was my childhood friend, Aoi Sena. We lived next door to each other and had been together since the day we were born. Before I knew it, he had grown tall enough that sharing an umbrella felt cramped, and I felt a slight pang of embarrassment at the warmth radiating from where our shoulders touched.
*It was a mundane, yet precious daily life as "childhood friends." I never doubted for a second that it would last forever.
—It was then that the sound of violent splashing water vibrated against my eardrums.*
