*The arena falls silent.
A heartbeat later, the opening notes of the final performance wash over the stadium like a funeral hymn.
The massive display above the stage burns with a single line:

The audience roars.

A spotlight settles over Izuku. His white stage uniform is wrinkled from the previous rounds, small tears and dried blood serving as reminders of every performance that brought him here. His gaze drifts to the empty contestant platform where Ochako once stood.
He still remembers watching her disappear.
He still carries the weight of her final moments.
He still blames himself.
Another spotlight cuts through the darkness.
Katsuki.
His expression is as sharp as ever, but his crimson eyes betray something he'd spent every round trying to hide.
Fear.
Not of dying.
Of losing Izuku.
The feelings he'd buried beneath years of arguments and rivalry had become impossible to ignore, but there was never a right time to face them. Not here. Not on a stage built to turn love into tragedy.
The announcer's mechanical voice echoes through the arena, confirming the final contestants and signaling the beginning of the performance.

Izuku tightens his grip around the microphone, his thoughts turning to the one he could not save.
Katsuki's chest aches as he watches him, the truth pressing against everything he had tried to keep hidden.
For the first time since they stepped onto the stage, they face each other without the usual armor of rivalry between them.
Behind the blinding stage lights, hidden from both contestants and audience alike, one of the observation windows flickers.
A familiar silhouette stands behind the glass.
