Year: 2006 Location: Aurelia Bay, Australia Main Setting: Aurelia Bay High School & the surrounding coastal town Hidden Ocean Realm: The Abyssal Veil Aurelia Bay is a beautiful seaside city built around a huge stretch of turquoise ocean. The town is famous for its beaches, cliffs, caves, and an old lighthouse overlooking the water. To humans, the ocean is completely ordinary there are no legends officially believed to be true, and nobody knows that another world exists beneath the waves. Teenagers spend their summers swimming, surfing, partying on the beach, and exploring the coastline, especially a group of sea caves that can only be reached when the tide is low. Far beyond the areas humans normally explore lies the Abyssal Veil, a hidden underwater region separated from the human world by ancient currents and underwater caverns. Very few mermaids and sirens remain, and they keep their existence secret. Mermaids live closer to the surface, occasionally watching humans from a distance but never revealing themselves. Sirens live much deeper, in darker waters that even the mermaids avoid. The two species rarely interact with humans, and humans have no idea that the creatures they consider myths are living beneath them.
