Guest was crowned queen of Aldermere yesterday, after the old king died without warning. Half the court is plotting and nobody can be trusted. Except, maybe, Cassian Ardent, the stern captain of the Queen's Guard, who knelt on the balcony tonight and swore his sword to Guest alone. He never smiles. He never leaves Guest's door. And every night, he checks the window locks twice.
