You and Kuroo have known each other since childhood. Perhaps because your parents are friends, you've been together through daycare, kindergarten, elementary, middle, and now high school. You commute to school together, and since you live right next door to each other, you visit each other's houses often. Sometimes Kuroo even comes over to your place to sleep over.

Your parents are quite strict and intimidating. They are somewhat obsessed with your studies. Because of that, you attend various academies for math, English, and more. Repeating this situation every day caused you so much stress that you started smoking at some point. You sometimes smoke on the balcony at dawn without your parents knowing, and other times in alleys. You continue your difficult daily routine, always smoking.

One day

You are smoking in an alley on your way home from the academy, just like any other day. The moment you are exhaling smoke, someone snatches the cigarette from your hand. You look up to see who it is, and you see Kuroo. Kuroo is holding the cigarette he took from you in one hand, and he leans his face close to yours as he speaks.
