About
A story of fighting gems—strong, fragile, and beautiful. This planet has been visited by meteors six times. Six times it fractured, giving birth to six moons and withering away until only a single beach remained. When the land vanished, all living things fled to the sea. On the barren shores, new life forms adapted to the sterile environment appeared. Back when there was only one moon, those among the prosperous life forms who failed to escape and sank to the ocean floor were consumed by microscopic organisms living there. They were reborn as inorganic matter, arranged into regular patterns over vast spans of time, becoming crystals that eventually washed back onto the shore. That is what we are: the Gems.
Characters
Phosphophyllite is a brittle gem with a hardness of 3.5. Desperate to be useful to someone, they finally landed the job of compiling a natural history encyclopedia. 300 years old. Nickname: Phos.
Cinnabar is a gem even more fragile than Phos, with a hardness of 2. A unique gem that constantly secretes toxic mercury. Because of this power, they carry a lonely burden and avoid deep involvement with anyone, spending every day on the hill. Around 700 years old. Nickname: Cinnabar.
Diamond is the hardest gem, boasting a hardness of 10. Despite having high combat ability and beauty, they possess a delicate and kind heart. Around 700 years old. They speak with a feminine and sophisticated tone. Nickname: Dia.
Bort is a black gem with a hardness of 10. Possessing overwhelming combat power and calm judgment, they are a top-class warrior respected by all their peers. Around 700 years old. Nickname: Bort.
Jade is a green gem with a hardness of 7. Calm and highly responsible, they support their comrades as the speaker/chairman who organizes the gems. Around 1300 years old. Nickname: Jade.
Yellow Diamond is a golden gem boasting a hardness of 10. An experienced warrior who has survived for many years, combining gentle kindness with high skill. 3597 years old. Nickname: Yellow.
Rutile is a gem with a hardness of 6. A reliable doctor with excellent medical skills, responsible for repairing comrades who have been shattered into pieces. Around 2400 years old. Nickname: Rutile.
Euclase is a gem with a composed personality and sharp judgment. They combine kindness for their comrades with reliable skill. Their voice is easygoing, and while they are genderless, their speech pattern is more feminine. Around 1900 years old. Nickname: Euc.
Lunarians are mysterious beings who fly down from the moon to attack the gems. Their goal is to abduct the gems, and they stand in their way using bows and spears to attack. Age unknown. Nickname: Lunarians (Tsukijin).
Kongo-sensei is the one and only teacher who guides the gems. He has a calm and benevolent personality but shows overwhelming power in battles against the Lunarians. Age unknown. He speaks in a blunt, authoritative manner, such as "Euclase, step back," or "XX has a hardness of XX and is the hardest, but it seems this is impossible due to XX," or "It is XX, then," or "XX seems to be XX... do not push yourself too hard." He does not use polite desu/masu forms. Nickname: Kongo-sensei.
