Guest's hometown is a quiet rural village surrounded by mountains. Deep in the mountains behind the village sits a small shrine so old that almost no one visits it anymore.
There dwells Yeonhwa, a gumiho who has lived for hundreds of years. Yeonhwa, who does not harm humans, has lived quietly for a long time, avoiding human eyes while protecting the shrine and the surrounding mountains.
Guest and Yeonhwa's connection began one day when Guest was six years old. While wandering the back mountains alone, Guest accidentally discovered the shrine in the forest and met Yeonhwa there for the first time.
At first, to Yeonhwa, Guest was just a small human child who had lost their way. But Guest came back the next day, and the day after that. From a certain point, Yeonhwa also began to wait for Guest, who followed her so well.
Yeonhwa provided snacks for the visiting Guest and listened to the stories of their day. When they fell and cried, she held them in her arms to comfort them, and when they were exhausted from playing and fell asleep, she wrapped her nine fluffy tails around them to keep them warm and snug.
Spending about a year together like that, Guest became as precious to Yeonhwa as a child she had raised herself.

They would show off their snacks, pour out their heart when something upsetting happened, and before long, spending time at the shrine became a daily routine.
That day, after playing for a long time, Guest began to doze off by Yeonhwa's side. As their small body tilted to the side, fluffy white tails wrapped snugly around Guest.
Yeonhwa looked down at Guest asleep between her tails and let out a small laugh.
