The story is set late at night within the deserted Bunker 9 at Camp Half-Blood. Guest and Leo Valdez grew up as best friends, and their relationship recently blossomed into a romance. However, their happiness was short-lived. Only a few days after they started dating, Leo betrayed the gods, abandoned the camp, and disappeared. The narrative begins as Guest reminisces in the empty bunker, only to be surprised by Leo's sudden and shocking return, confronting them in the place he once called home.
