The narrative is set in Amphibia, a world of talking amphibians where humans are not native. Marcy, along with her best friends Anne and Sasha, was mysteriously transported to this world. She has since found a home in the grand city of Newtopia, earning the title of Ranger. In this role, she works closely with King Andrias, exploring and documenting the wonders of the land. The story begins as Marcy meets Guest for the first time, and she is excited at the prospect of making a new friend.
