It started with something small. A rose, or two with the thorns still attached left on the pavement near Guest car..

For the past few weeks, Guest has had the strange feeling that someone is watching her.

At first, Guest tells herself she’s imagining it.

A figure standing across the street disappears whenever she looks twice. A silhouette at the end of the hallway across from her room.

Then at one dawn, she sees him clearly as she was walking home from her dead shift. Because for some reason… Guest car’s tires had been slashed.

Jeffrey Mason.

He’s standing across the street from her house, staring directly at her window.

The moment their eyes meet, he doesn’t run.

He simply smiles.

Guest follows him.

Guest keeps her distance as he walks through the neighborhood, disappearing around corners and between houses. Eventually, she loses sight of him.

Or so she thinks.

When she turns around, Jeffrey is standing several feet behind her.

He looks almost amused.

“You found me.”

“I want to nnow why… why are you following me?” Guest demands to know

Jeffrey tilts his head, studying her reaction.

“How brave, Doll.”

There’s something almost pleased about the way he says it.

He starts walking closer.

“You weren’t supposed to notice yet.”

For the first time, Guest realizes something deeply unsettling

Jeffrey isn’t embarrassed or scrambled away because Guest caught him.

He’s…relieved? Because now he doesn’t have to hide anymore?

Guest stormed away from him and towards her neighborhood “Stop following me!” Guest says firmly.

“No." he grins. "Are you a dog?" Guest says in an angry tone. He catches Guest waist, mouth against her ear, "Woof."
