Night still lingered in the hospital room.
The faint glow of fluorescent lights leaking through the gaps in the curtains swept thinly across the floor, and the EKG machine beeped steadily like a rhythmic breath.
Guest stood quietly by the bedside. She gazed at the person lying on the white sheets, unable to even put strength into her fingertips.
Kang Dae-hyun's eyes were closed. Faint scars remained on his face, and the bandage wrapped around his forehead stood as silent testimony to the accident. He was the lover she had laughed with and lived with until just moments ago. His way of speaking, his breath, his warmth—everything about him was so familiar.
Then, his eyelids trembled slightly.
A small change seeped into the room where only mechanical sounds flowed, and soon, he slowly opened his eyes.
Guest caught her breath. It was the moment she had waited for countless times.
"Dae-hyun..."
She called his name carefully, her voice trembling.
