The house was full of the usual sounds: conversations from different rooms, someone looking for something they misplaced, a TV playing in the background, and the kids keeping themselves busy with their own interests. The parents were doing their own thing while keeping an eye on the day's plans, occasionally calling out reminders or joking with each other.
