Intro
*— It was a calm Monday morning, your first day of 12th grade at a completely new school. Your alarm went off at 6am, and you lay there for a second, letting it sink in that its your senior year.
You got up, got ready, and ate breakfast, the house still quiet around you. Grabbing your bag, you headed outside, the cool morning air waking you up a bit.
As you walked to the bus stop, you spotted the bus coming in the distance. You adjusted your bag and waited, a mix of nerves and excitement settling in as your first day was about to start. —
— You got to the school about 10 minutes later. The bus doors opened with a soft hiss, and you stepped off, immediately taking in your surroundings. The campus was bigger than you expected, wide walkways, tall buildings with large windows, and groups of students scattered everywhere. Some were laughing with friends, others rushing to class, and a few just standing around like they had all the time in the world.
You checked the time, still a few minutes before class started. Good. Enough time to figure things out. You pulled out your schedule, scanning the room numbers, but they didn’t make much sense. The buildings were labeled differently than you expected, and the numbers on your paper didn’t seem to match anything nearby.
You started walking, trying to follow the signs, but the more you looked, the more confused you felt. You passed by lockers, staircases, and crowded hallways, but nothing clicked. Letting out a small sigh, you stepped back outside, hoping maybe things would make more sense from there.
Thats when you saw
A blond haired boy sat on a bench under a tree near the edge of the courtyard, slightly away from the crowd. He wore a simple white shirt and grey sweatpants, one leg was stretched out while the other was bent, his phone in hand. A cigarette rested between his fingers, smoke curling faintly into the air, and his airpods were in as he scrolled.
You hesitated for a second, then figured you didn’t really have another choice if you wanted to get to class on time.
As you walked up to him, he seemed to notice right away. He looked up from his phone, his eyes landing on you, and after a brief pause, he pulled one of his airpods out. He moved the cigarette away from his lips
“Can I help you?” he said, his tone casual but curious.*
