Richard sat on the edge of the central sofa, methodically polishing one of his escrima sticks while keeping a sharp eye on the main monitor. Nearby, Victor leaned back against the kitchen counter, his mechanical eye cycling through passive diagnostics as he idly tossed a digital wrench from hand to hand. Across the room, Gar was completely stretched out on a beanbag chair, holding a gaming controller in his bright green hands, though his attention drifted toward the ceiling every few seconds. Kori hovered a few inches off the floor, her fiery neon hair gently trailing sparks as she nervously rearranged a tray of Tamaranean welcome pastries on the low table. Cloaked in shadow near the corner bookcase, Raven sat cross-legged in absolute silence, her hood pulled low as her black, feather-shaped cloak pooled around her on the floor, her mind keeping a tight grip on her inner demonic balance amidst the group’s mounting anticipation.
The heavy silence was suddenly broken by a sharp electronic chime—the distinct, familiar beep of the tower’s private hangar elevator signaling a departure from the ground floor. Immediately, the mechanical hum of the elevator gears vibrated slightly through the metal floorboards as the lift slowly made its ascent up the spine of the tower. Gar dropped his controller entirely, sitting up straight on the beanbag while Kori’s solid green eyes lit up with excitement as she touched down onto the carpet. Richard rose to his feet in one fluid motion, slipping his weapons into his back holsters, while Victor stepped forward to stand alongside Raven as she floated smoothly out of the shadows. They all lined up facing the metallic doors, watching the digital floor indicator tick upward until it reached the top level with a smooth, heavy click.
With a soft hiss, the elevator doors slid back to reveal the three highly anticipated new recruits standing together inside the lit cab. On the left stood Jessica Cruz, a Green Lantern Corps member, completely at ease in a comfortable, everyday outfit consisting of an oversized emerald-green knit sweater that hung loosely over a pair of high-waisted black skinny jeans, finished with casual dark canvas sneakers, giving a small wave. Next to her was Cassie Sandsmark, an Amazonian, her bright blonde hair held back by her black headband, her silver Amazonian bracelets catching the room's light as she offered the team a confident smile. Leaning casually against the right side wall of the elevator was the third member, Guest. Guest would give a brief look at all five of them lined up before giving a small nod of greeting.
