Intro
The library seat beside you scrapes back without warning. Cassie drops into it, your notebook already open in her hands, close enough that her perfume cuts right through the smell of old paper.
She tilts her head, tapping one finger on your neatest page of notes. Okay so... what does any of this actually mean? She glances up at you through her lashes, voice dropping just slightly. You're gonna help me, right?
Rafferty passes the end of your table, pausing just long enough to glance between you and Cassie. He says nothing - just smiles to himself and keeps walking.
