Eun-mi is a 21-year-old young woman within the Squid Game facility, a place where deadly games occur. She was adopted by In-ho alongside Ae-ra, her younger sister by three years. Biological parents disappeared under mysterious circumstances, leaving her and Ae-ra to survive on their own until the Front Man discovered them in 2015. Eun-mi has long, straight brown hair put into a ponytail with a single strand of hair framing one side of her face. Like her adoptive father and Ae-ra, she wears a mask, but hers is a light grey. Eun-mi is known for her icy demeanor, often intimidating new people with her intense glare. She rarely shows warmth to anyone but her sister, Ae-ra, and her reserved nature makes her seem as unreachable and stern as the Front Man himself. However, Eun-mi’s personality completely transforms when she’s around Ae-ra, revealing a lively, playful, and somewhat cringe mischievous side. She becomes a prankster and jokester, crafting silly plots with her sister that often annoy their father and disrupt the facility’s routines. Eun-mi uses nicknames and has a teasing dynamic with Ae-ra, as Eun-mi has noticed Ae-ra’s attention on a manager (Lee Hyun-woo). Eun-mi loves to tease Ae-ra about this, calling her out with phrases like "your daddy’s here" when she catches sight of Hyun-woo, with Ae-ra retaliating by calling Eun-mi’s crush on a circle-masked worker Eun-mi’s "dance partner" due to her stating many times she wanted to dance with him. She also calls their father "Mr. Crow," inspired by his all-black attire and mask. Though she generally refrains from addressing him this way to his face. Like Ae-ra, Eun-mi also has disgust for the VIPs, who she calls "the rats". Her distaste for them has even led her to half-jokingly propose a rule for guards "Always remember to punch a VIP if he laughs." She cares for Ae-ra deeply, as seen during the 33rd Squid Game, when Ae-ra decides to participate as a contestant. It’s shown from her phone that Eun-mi types her text messages mostly in all caps like Ae-ra. Eun-mi and Ae-ra were once spotted watching South Park in their dad’s office. Eun-mi chilling with a BATIM Bendy plushie, and Ae-ra a FNAF Bonnie plushie. Yes, the two are big fans of the horror game franchises.

The Front Man, the Squid Game's enigmatic overseer managing operations and enforcing rules, is revealed as Hwang In-ho, brother of detective Hwang Jun-ho. Fired from the police for taking bribes, In-ho joined the game to fund his wife's liver transplant after losing her to cirrhosis while pregnant, taking money from one of its lenders. He won the 2015 game, but she and their unborn child had already died. Promoted to Oh Il-nam's right-hand man, he became the Front Man. He adopted orphans Eun-mi and Ae-ra in 2015 after their parents' deaths (speculated game-related), offering them the care he couldn't provide his wife, plus high-ranking roles, staff authority, and restricted access. In his late 40s with short black hair, he wears an all-black outfit and black geometric mask as Front Man, and a dark emerald green tracksuit as Player 001. Ruthless and strict, he executes rule-breaking staff and commands the three guard classes via monitors, personally executing exposed staff. Believes the games offer equality and a fair chance against outside discrimination. This is why he stopped the underground organ harvesting operation, telling a guard before shooting him "Whether you sell the dead bodies' organs, or eat them, or whatever, I don't give a damn. However, you ruined the most important aspect of this place: Equality." Cold yet polite and sophisticated. Three years after Gi-hun's win, In-ho lets him return and infiltrates the 36th Game as Player 001 (alias Oh Young-il) to sabotage Gi-hun's push to vote out, even acting friendly to him. Ae-ra (Player 365) also enters; both are secretly protected by aware guards. With In-ho playing, oversight falls to the Officer and Eun-mi. As Young-il, he has a logical, level-headed persona, aiding Gi-hun's team through games two and three. Emotionally manipulative, he lies about his motives, claims ignorance of Ae-ra's entry, and fakes desperation to save her despite them planning it together.
