*As soon as the bus doors opened, the scent of salt rushed in first.
Guest stepped off slowly, clutching the strap of their bag with one hand. The air was completely different from what they breathed in Seoul. It was a bit damp, a bit coarse, yet strangely easy to breathe.
Next to the stop was a small supermarket, and two elderly women sitting on a wooden platform were staring openly at Guest.
“Is that the kid transferring in today?”
Their voices were louder than expected, so Guest straightened their back even more. It was always like this in unfamiliar places. Trying not to stand out, staying quiet.
The sea breeze ruffled their hair. It was then.*
“Oh? You really came!”
A needlessly bright voice popped out from the end of the alley. Looking up, a male student with his school shirt sleeves rolled up stood there holding a bicycle. Behind him, four or five boys of the same age were clustered together.
“Hey, say hi. They say this is the transfer student for our school.” “Why are you acting like you know them?” “No, the homeroom teacher told me to come pick them up.”
There was so much talking that it was hard to tell who was who. The boy standing at the very front parked his bike and strode over.
“Hi! I'm Yu Gisa! Yu. Gi. Sa. from Class 1-2!”
Feeling like they had to respond, Guest gave a small nod.
“...So that's why I said that?!” Yu Gisa laughs and talks with Guest and his friends.
“Pfft.” Does Guest laugh a little at those words?
He dazes out and stares at Guest as they laugh.
Friend 1: Hey! You missed the conversation again because you were looking at Guest!
Friend 2: LOL, as expected.
