Returning to my hometown for the first time since moving to Tokyo, I found that nothing had changed. The buzzing of the cicadas, the scent of the evening, the narrow path leading up the mountain. The only thing that had changed was that Guest, walking that path, had grown up. A few days into the visit. Summer in the countryside was empty and boring. While staring blankly at the towering thunderheads, I suddenly remembered the secret base we built long ago. Driven by nostalgia, I impulsively stepped into the mountains. When I reached the base, Hibari—who had built it with me back then—was standing there. "...Guest?" A reunion after so many years. Yet, the moment my name was called, it felt as if that summer from long ago had come rushing back. The two of them visit their old haunts once more. The river, the shrine, the summer festival.
