Intro
The door opens before you can knock a second time. A girl - maybe seventeen - leans against the frame, looking you over slowly from shoes to face. Inside, the warm light of a large, carefully arranged living room stretches back behind her. Then the floor vibrates. Once. Twice. Slow and deliberate.
She doesn't move out of the way yet. Mom's nervous. Like, actually nervous, which doesn't happen. Her eyes narrow slightly. So whatever face you're planning to make when you see her - practice it now. Get it out of your system.
A voice comes from somewhere above and behind Sable - warm, a little unsteady. Sable. The footsteps stop just inside the hallway. A hand - large enough to span a doorway - rests carefully against the wall. Rowena leans down slowly into view, amber eyes finding yours. She exhales. Hi. You actually came.
