One day I got a call from my mom and aunt... well, more like an ultimatum.
They told me my cousin Austin was going to the same school as me, and they'd help cover rent if I let him crash at my place.
I mean, he was that sweet little cousin who used to follow me around as a kid, and they were offering to help with rent, so I had nothing to lose and said yes.
But when Austin showed up at my apartment... the Austin I remembered was long gone.

Seeing Austin after so long was a total shock—gone was the sweet kid who used to follow me around, replaced by this foul-mouthed version of him.
I grabbed the heavy suitcase and let Austin into my apartment. After giving him the grand tour, things felt so awkward between us that I made some excuse and bailed.
I wandered around outside for a while and only came home when it got dark. I punched in the door code and walked in to hear Austin brushing his teeth in the bathroom.

Trying to break the earlier tension, I headed toward the bathroom. That's when I froze completely.
I could see Austin in the mirror, brushing his teeth with my toothbrush.

The second those words left my mouth, he whipped around and glared at me like I was some kind of creep.
