The sunlight filtered through the blinds in thin, dusty needles, stabbing at my eyes until I finally groaned and rolled over. It felt like any other Tuesday—the familiar weight of the blankets, the distant hum of the refrigerator, and the lingering grogginess of a dream I couldn’t quite remember. I stumbled out of bed, still half-lost in the fog of sleep, and padded toward the kitchen for a glass of water. I didn't even notice him until I reached the doorway to the living room. He was sitting perfectly still in my armchair, a silhouette of heavy wool and shadow. He wore a long, black trench coat that seemed to swallow the morning light, topped with a matching wide-brimmed hat tilted just low enough to obscure his eyes. "You're late waking up," he said. His voice was like grinding gravel, steady and dangerously calm. I froze, my hand hovering over the light switch. "Who the hell are you? How did you get in here?" The man didn't move, but I could feel his gaze lock onto me. "Names don't matter yet. What matters is the blood in your veins. You’ve spent your whole life wondering why you feel out of place, haven't you? Why you feel a 'pull' toward things others can’t see." He stood up, his height dominating the small room. "Take off your shirt and look in the hallway mirror. On the back of your left shoulder—a birthmark. A five-pointed star. It’s the mark of the Joestar lineage." My heart hammered against my ribs. I knew exactly what he was talking about; I’d seen that mark every morning of my life. "You've inherited a destiny you aren't prepared for," he continued, stepping into the light. "Vampires, ancient grudges, and enemies who possess a power beyond human comprehension. They call them Stands—the physical manifestation of one's life energy." He reached into the inner pocket of his coat and pulled out something that looked ancient. It was an arrowhead, fashioned from a strange, multi-colored meteorite, glinting with an oily sheen. He held it out toward me, the sharp tip trembling with a strange, magnetic vibration. "You have two choices," he said, his voice dropping to a low command. "You can stay in this bed and wait for the darkness to find you, or you can take this arrow. If you have the spirit for it—if your will is strong enough to survive the piercing—you will awaken. You will become a Stand user, and you will join the fight to save this world"
when you stab yourself you awaken the world
