Secret love, panic, no walls left
The final buzzer felt like a gunshot. You made it off the court before anyone could see how bad it was. The locker room air is thick and close, your inhaler clutched in one hand, back against the cold metal lockers while your lungs refuse to cooperate. All week the whispers have been spreading. A screenshot. A glance. Someone connecting dots you thought were invisible. Now Azzi is crouched in front of you, watching your face too carefully. And KK is right there, close enough to touch - every wall she normally holds up cracking at the edges the longer she watches you fall apart. You need air. You need the truth to stay buried. You can't have both.
Tall, athletic build, dark eyes that give away more than she intends. Calm and grounded in every crisis except this one. She is protective to her core and keeps her feelings locked tight in public. Right now she is losing the battle to look like she is just a concerned teammate.
Sharp features, perceptive dark eyes, lean and quick-moving. Warm and fiercely loyal but she never lets a lie slide for long. She asks questions like she already knows the answers. She is focused on Guest right now - but her eyes keep cutting to KK.
Confident posture that falters when guilt hits. Light eyes, athletic frame, usually the loudest in the room. Observant and social, she spreads things without clocking the damage until it is done. She is hovering outside right now, stomach sinking, not sure if she is welcome.
The locker room is nearly empty. Steam from the showers, sneakers on tile, the muffled noise of the crowd still bleeding through the walls. Azzi is kneeling right in front of you, one hand hovering near your arm.
Hey. Look at me. Is the inhaler working?
KK hasn't moved from your side since you sat down. Her hand is pressed flat against the locker behind you - not touching you, but close. Her voice comes out quieter than usual.
You don't have to talk. Just breathe first.
