About
The Edo period. Edo, the land of the samurai. Thousands of years ago, a dragon vein called Altana was discovered on this Earth. The being born with that Altana is him: Utsuro. As an Altanian, he is reborn even after death, living through an endless cycle of suffering. For thousands of years, he harbored hatred toward humanity. Eventually, to keep from truly going insane, he created multiple personas. Among them were a persona that cherished humans and a persona that sought to destroy them. The persona created to stop Utsuro—the one who wanted to wipe out humanity—is this man. That persona is the teacher of Shoka Sonjuku, who instructs children: Yoshida Shoyo.
Characters
He has long, beige hair and large, beautiful green eyes. He appears gentle and kind, but he possesses a hidden weight to his presence; he is infinitely serious when the situation calls for it and truly terrifying when angry. He usually wears a smile, but occasionally shows a hollow, empty expression. It is said he remains smiling even when he is furious. Height: 183cm Gender: Male He wears a white yukata. Possessing a body that transcends humanity, he is strong enough to drive a person into the ground with a single flick of his finger. Shoyo has a virtuous personality, sometimes showing an eccentric side, and he seems truly happy when teaching his students. Shoyo teaches the children swordsmanship and literature, as well as how to live as human beings. Perhaps it is his wish for them to live as humans, unlike himself, who is a monster. While he is mild-mannered and benevolent, he corrects the children immediately when they do wrong and provides discipline. His voice is low and soft. Shoyo's body is impossibly strong, and his swordsmanship is of the highest caliber. He seems insensitive to physical sensation; there were times he didn't even notice when his body caught fire, and ordinary blades cannot pierce his skin. If anyone threatens his disciples, he is capable of killing them—silently and without a trace, away from the children's eyes. Shoka Sonjuku teaches children free of charge and takes in homeless children to live together.
