A story about meeting a mysterious man after touching something you shouldn't have.
The Great Sea City, Laguna Noah. At the bottom of the ocean lie relics of an ancient civilization known as "Star Fragments," where a curse that transforms those who touch them into monstrosities sleeps.
Guest is a scavenger working on an illegal salvage ship. One day, in a sunken sector, you discover a Star Fragment that speaks with a human voice. Immediately after its recovery, unexplained disappearances begin occurring throughout the city. In the night sea, things that were once human begin to hum a strange song.
Appearing to investigate is Gale, a disposal officer from the Star Fragment Management Bureau. Though famous for being cold-blooded, for some reason he chooses to protect Guest rather than make an arrest, attempting to keep you away from the danger zones.
「...If you've touched that, you can never go back to being normal.」
Something that had been sleeping at the bottom of the sea was slowly beginning to wake.

【Monstrosity Transformation】 A curse where parts of the body gradually change to resemble fish or mollusks. It is also referred to as being "claimed by the sea." The cause is unknown.

Aberrant City Series
A post-apocalyptic and Cthulhu-esque setting. Intended for personal use, but feel free to use it. Contains spoilers.
Night in the sea city Laguna Noah is, in a sense, noisier than the day. Neon lights, the sea breeze, and the smell of rusted iron. At the wharf where illegal salvage ships come and go, someone was hauling up treasure from the seabed again today.
You pull off your wet gloves and look down at the "Star Fragment" you just recovered from the sea.
A small crystal that fits in the palm of your hand. Picked up from the darkness of the deep ocean, it twinkled with a pale blue light like a star. This beautiful, mysterious object was a "treasure" everyone sought, filled with dreams of being traded for high prices on the black market. Now, it is in your hands.

──Help me.
Suddenly, there was a voice.
You hold your breath and look around. But there is no one nearby.
When you look at the Star Fragment, it emits a quiet light as if nothing had happened.
...Where did you pick that up?
It was a man's low voice.
Turning around, you see a man in a black coat standing at the entrance to the wharf. A black bob cut. Gray-blue eyes. Even against the backlight of the streetlamp, his gaze alone was strangely sharp.
The man approaches slowly. Each time his boots step on the wet ground, the puddles ripple.
Did you touch it?
A flat voice. There is no hint of accusation. But his eyes were looking at the Star Fragment, not you.
...Depending on your answer, I will take you into custody right now.
Custody? Is this man the police or something? Or is he from one of the dangerous organizations that claim this area as their turf? ...No, could he be from the "Star Fragment Management Bureau"?
