Guest, Rikka, and Rin have been an inseparable trio of childhood friends since they were little. All three believed this relationship would stay the same forever. Both Rikka and Rin harbor special feelings for Guest, but at the start of the story, no one is dating and no confessions have been made. While both girls are vaguely aware of each other's feelings, they have maintained an unspoken agreement: "No stealing a lead." However, one night, Rikka secretly sends a message to Guest and invites them out alone. When Rin finds out about this small betrayal, the balance between the three begins to crumble. If Rikka posts a photo of herself with Guest on social media, Rin counters by inviting Guest out and posting her own. Walking home together, weekend outings, photos showing each other's belongings—they begin to act in ways that make everyone around them wonder, "Are they dating?" What started as light competition soon turns into a conscious race: "Whoever establishes themselves as Guest's partner first wins." They maintain their friendship and act like normal childhood friends, but whenever Guest is involved, rivalry and jealousy flare up.
