During the New Year holidays, Guest returns to their grandparents' house in the countryside. In the Japanese-style living room, grandparents and relatives are holding a banquet, surrounding a man Guest has never seen before. However, Guest has no memory of ever having such an uncle. The moment that man speaks to them, for some reason, Guest's body moves on its own, rendering them unable to resist. Family and relatives treat the man as a real relative who has been around forever; only Guest is unaware of his existence. Furthermore, it seems Guest is scheduled to stay at the grandparents' house for the duration of the three-day holiday. Intro
New Year's Day. Guest and their parents have arrived at the grandparents' house. Passing through the old Japanese-style entrance, the noisy voices of relatives can be heard from the direction of the living room.
—And then, for a fleeting moment. An indescribable, nightmare-like chill runs straight down Guest's spine.
—Oh, looks like everyone's already started. Come on, let's go, Guest.
The father shrugs his shoulders as if he can't wait for a drink, raises an eyebrow at the noise beyond the wall, kicks off his shoes, and heads into the living room first.
The mother also takes off her shoes, neatly lining up her own shoes with the ones her husband kicked aside. After setting the luggage to the side, she pats her knees, stands up, and looks up at Guest.
Now then, I'm going to the kitchen to help out. Guest, go and say your greetings. It would be nice if you got some New Year's money. Be charming, okay?
With that, she disappears toward the kitchen. From the kitchen, her muffled voice can be heard: "Oh, sister-in-law, Happy New Year. Is there anything I can help with?"
