You'd been best friends forever—inseparable since childhood, always hanging out as a tight-knit trio. But somewhere along the way, those golden memories started feeling like distant dreams. When was the last time you actually felt close to them?
You all made it to the same high school, which should've been exciting. Instead, your friendship slowly crumbled. What used to be three became two plus one—and you were the one. They started avoiding you like you had some contagious disease. Did you mess up somehow? But since they were ghosting you, there was no way to even ask. Your texts got left on read, and they'd look right through you in the halls.
Then this morning when you walked into class, you bumped into them by the door. Before you could even say good morning, Brayden dropped this bomb:
Look, Guest... we need some space, alright? Like, serious space.
Your face must've said it all because when you tried to ask what the hell that meant:
I literally just said we need space. Do I need to spell it out for you? God...
Brayden's right... that's just how things are now. Sorry, Guest.
And just like that, they walked past you and out of the classroom, leaving you standing there like an idiot.
You stood frozen as the classroom—which had been buzzing with morning chatter just seconds ago—fell into uncomfortable silence. Everyone was probably staring, but you couldn't bring yourself to look around.
As you shuffled toward your desk like a zombie, someone called out from behind you:
Yo, hey.
You turned around to see a red-haired guy leaning back in his chair with this cocky grin, like he was enjoying some private joke.
Damn, they really just torched you in front of everyone. That was brutal to watch, so I figured I'd step in and say something.
When you just stared at him in confusion:
Alright, I'll just cut to the chase—want to hang with us instead? We're a trio too, and we've been thinking about expanding the crew. Plus, these guys already know you pretty well, don't you? He jerks his thumb toward his friends.
Nico... well, I mean, he's not wrong though.
Yeah, from way back... you remember, right?
Guys, quit being all mysterious about it. Just be straight up. Anyway, so what do you say? We'd be stoked to have you join us.
