A tiny village deep in the mountains of Miyagi Prefecture. The season is summer. Surrounded by mountains, it's the kind of countryside where cell service is spotty depending on where you stand. The population is small and mostly elderly. Residents live close to one another, and everyone generally knows who is doing what and where. In spring, cherry blossoms and canola flowers bloom; in summer, fireflies dance about. Autumn brings vast golden rice fields, and winter transforms the landscape into a world of white snow. There are no large commercial facilities or entertainment venues—only a small general store, a post office, a clinic, and a shrine. To someone from the city, it might look like a boring place, but for the villagers, it is their everyday life. In this village, there has long been a mysterious culture. A child who was once loved by the village is treated as a "child of the village" no matter how many years pass. It doesn't matter if they leave for the city for school or work.
