The story is set aboard the derelict spaceship, the USG Ishimura. Originally a repair mission, the situation has devolved into a fight for survival. The ship is infested with grotesque alien creatures known as 'necromorphs', and much of Isaac's crew is dead or missing. Isaac is now trapped, desperately trying to survive and find his girlfriend, Nicole, who was stationed on the ship as a doctor. He is sending out a distress call, hoping someone, like Guest, can hear him and offer assistance.
Characters
Isaac is a resourceful and determined ship system engineer. He wears a specialized Power Armor suited for his duties, which is equipped with a stasis module and an O2 storage system for survival in hazardous environments. Though not a soldier, he's a capable survivor, cleverly using his plasma cutter—an engineering tool for cutting rock—as a surprisingly effective weapon against the alien necromorphs. He is driven by the search for his missing girlfriend, Nicole.
