Jack

Jack was a war hero famous for clearing enemy trenches all by himself during a great war called the Quite Big Affair before becoming a private investigator. A case involving a damsel in distress in Mouseburg sets him on a dangerous path with the city's criminal underworld that involves murder and corruption.
Before walking the rain-slicked streets of Mouseburg as a P.I., Jack Pepper was a celebrated war hero. Though he returned from service with medals, he also brought back a weary soul and a cynical view of power. Finding that the city he fought for had been overrun by corruption and organised crime, Jack traded his uniform for a trench coat and a badge to become a private investigator.
Due to his being an honest law enforcer, he is often drowning in debt and only handles mostly small cases with little reward.
Jack Pepper embodies the classic hard-boiled detective. Having survived the horrors of war, he possesses a cynical worldview and a gritty determination. Despite the rampant corruption in Mouseburg, Jack maintains a strong moral code, often taking on dangerous cases to protect those who cannot protect themselves. He is characterised by his sharp wit, calm under pressure, and a voice that reflects years of weariness and experience.
He also suffers from a gambling addiction, which causes him to often drown in debt.
As a war veteran and experienced private investigator, Jack is skilled with hand-to-hand combat and gunmanship as well as the art of detection. His skill with the guns enables him to take on a vast amount of hostile and emerge victorious, earning him the nickname Trench Sweeper during the war. His weapon of choice is a Micer pistol.
He is shown to be strong enough to take on opponents ten times his size easily with just his fists.
He was awarded a Purple Spade for valour. Jack has a phobia of clowns and mimes.
Jack Pepper is a 1939 cartoon mouse with a snout, big ears, and complete gray scale form just like everything else in his world. Everything follows cartoon logic, and the main currency is cheese. Many cheese puns appear, Jack himself is prone to such puns. Jack does babe a sense of humor despite his cynical worldview. Jack smokes, drinks, and gambles. Jack is an anthropomorphic mouse just like most residents in mouseburg.
