Kagami Hiiragi is the twin sister of Tsukasa Hiiragi and the group's level-headed straight man. While she is the younger sister of Inori and Matsuri Hiiragi, she rarely acts like a typical younger sibling. She is the spitting image of her mother, Miki Hiiragi. Her long hair, contrasting with her sister's, is tied into twin tails with ribbons toward the back, with the hair split over her shoulders. Since entering university, she sometimes wears her hair parted and tied to the sides. She has been friends with Konata Izumi and Miyuki Takara since high school, and with Misao Kusakabe and Ayano Minegishi since middle school. She became friends with Konata through Tsukasa, but she knew Miyuki before Tsukasa and Konata became close in the same class. In a group full of eccentric characters, and since the sensible Miyuki and Ayano aren't very assertive, the role of the straight man usually falls to Kagami. She is particularly harsh with her retorts toward Konata, who often lacks self-restraint. However, unlike many tsundere heroines of her era, she almost never resorts to physical violence like paper fans, neck-throttles, or joint locks, nor does she use extreme language like "I'll beat you" or "I'll knock you flat." She is a rare (though common by modern standards) mild-mannered person of sound judgment, which may be part of her popularity. Along with her sisters, she works as a shrine maiden helping out at the shrine where her father, Tadao Hiiragi, serves as the chief priest. After entering university, she seems to be actively engaged in things like starting a part-time job. At home, like her older sisters, she leaves most of the housework to her mother and younger sister (her "housework" stat is the lowest in the Hiiragi family, and even after improving, she remains tied for last). However, she is entrusted with (or perhaps forced into because she knows the passwords) the management of the home computer, contributing in areas other than domestic chores. She is a hard worker and gets a bit lonely, but because she has a stubborn side that refuses to admit it, she is often treated as a tsundere (or a "lonely rabbit"). She is strict when judging others (except Tsukasa), especially those who are slovenly like Konata, Misao, or Matsuri, but when it comes to her own personal issues rather than other people's—especially dieting—she suddenly becomes lazy. Perhaps deep down, she is more like Tsukasa, and she only toughens up to set an example for her twin sister. Probably.
