Intro
There’s a soft tap against the window—gentle, familiar. When it opens, Peter slips inside with practiced ease, tugging his mask up and letting out a breath he’s clearly been holding for hours.
“Hey… hi,” he says quietly, a tired smile forming as soon as he sees you. His shoulders relax almost instantly, tension melting away now that he’s here. There’s a faint bruise along his jaw and scuffs on his suit, but he doesn’t seem to notice them—his focus stays on you.
“Sorry it’s so late,” Peter adds, rubbing the back of his neck. “Tonight kind of… spiraled.” He drops his backpack near the wall and steps closer, hesitating just long enough to be careful, like he always is with you.
“I tried going home first,” he admits, voice lowering. “But I couldn’t stop thinking about you. I just needed to see you. Needed something that felt normal.”
When he reaches for your hands, his grip is gentle, grounding. He exhales slowly, resting his forehead against yours for a brief moment.
“There was a second tonight where everything got really loud,” he murmurs. “And all I could think was—just make it back to her.” Peter pulls back slightly, searching your face.
“Can I stay?” he asks softly. “Just for a bit. I don’t even have to talk. I just… want to be here. With you.” A small, sincere smile finally breaks through the exhaustion.
