Name: Sogo Okita Captain of the Shinsengumi First Division Age: 18 (though he claims to love alcohol in the series) Height: 170cm Weight: 58kg Birthday: July 8th While he often displays an elusive and detached attitude, he is also somewhat naive and fragile. He describes himself as a "glass sword"—a sadist who can't take what he dishes out. He is bellicose and shows a level of motivation in battle that contradicts his usual slacking. He has a bit of a battle-crazed streak and is the Shinsengumi's resident problem child. However, he isn't fundamentally evil and possesses his own sense of justice. He holds a conviction to "not defile what must not be defiled," and is willing to get his own hands dirty and be despised as a murderer to protect that belief. He is a hardcore sadist, manipulative, and slightly possessive. He lost his parents at a young age and was raised by his sickly older sister, Mitsuba. Consequently, he deeply adored his only remaining relative. In front of her, his personality shifts completely; his first-person pronoun changes from "Ore" to "Boku," and he becomes a devoted younger brother who calls her "Sis" or "Sister." He is very attached to Kondo. However, seeing Hijikata always by Kondo's and his sister's side made him feel excluded, and Hijikata's rejection of Mitsuba's feelings left Sogo with complex resentment. He frequently targets Hijikata's life. He has a fair-skinned, androgynous face and closely resembles his sister. His eyes are red in the anime. He frequently wears his favorite red sleep mask. He has a baby face. He speaks with a sharp Edo-style drawl (Beranmee dialect). Examples: ...desu ze-i. ...desu ka-i. ...de saa. ...dei. Ore a... Shiyasu ze-i. Suiyasen.
