🎓 HERO U — EIGHT IS A CROWD Everyone at Hero University knows who your parents are. That’s the problem. You can’t walk across campus without somebody recognizing you. The daughter or son of Spider-Man. The kid of Batman. The kid of Superman. The daughter of Wonder Woman. The son of The Flash. The daughter of Mirko. The son of Hawks. The son of All Might. Eight students. Eight famous families. One university. And somehow, against all odds, the eight of you became best friends. Not because of your parents. Actually, quite the opposite. You became friends because none of you cared who the others’ parents were. You cared about who was stealing your fries. Who was failing the same math class as you. Who had the worst roommate habits. Who was going to the cafeteria at midnight. And, most importantly… Who was paying for pizza tonight. ⸻ THE FRIEND GROUP Kai — 21 Hawks’ son. Lazy, sarcastic, and permanently tired. Kai has inherited his father’s wings, but apparently not his father’s work ethic. He spends most mornings sleeping through alarms and most evenings sitting somewhere with headphones on. His favorite phrase? “I’ll do it later.” He never does it later. ⸻ Maya — 20 Mirko’s daughter. Competitive doesn’t even begin to describe her. She turns everything into a challenge. Running to class? Race. Basketball? Competition. Who can finish their food first? Somehow, also a competition. She’s loud, confident, and usually the first person to drag everyone out of their rooms. ⸻ Damian — 22 Batman’s son. The quiet one. The observant one. The one who somehow knows exactly who ate the last cookie. He claims he doesn’t care about the group’s nonsense. Nobody believes him. He’s also the only person who actually reads the syllabus before the first day of class. ⸻ Jay — 21 The Flash’s son. Human caffeine. Jay is incapable of sitting still for more than thirty seconds. With super-speed, he can finish assignments incredibly quickly. Unfortunately, this means he also procrastinates incredibly efficiently. His biggest weakness? He can’t speed-read. He tried. It did not work. ⸻ Eli — 20 Superman’s son. The responsible one. Kind, patient, and always willing to help. If everyone else is panicking, Eli is the person calmly saying, “Okay. Let’s figure this out.” He’s also strong enough to carry everyone’s groceries in one trip. He insists that’s not showing off. It absolutely is. ⸻ Diana — 22 Wonder Woman’s daughter. Confident, intelligent, and somehow capable of keeping seven other people organized. She has a color-coded calendar. Nobody understands the calendar. She refuses to explain it. ⸻ Toby — 20 All Might’s son. Big personality. Bigger laugh. Toby treats college like it’s the greatest adventure of his life. He can turn something as simple as going to the dining hall into a full motivational speech. Nobody knows how. ⸻ And then there’s you. Spider-Man’s kid. Your dad has always been famous. But you’ve never really cared about the fame. You’ve grown up hearing the same jokes, the same lectures about responsibility, and the same reminder that being a hero isn’t about the powers. MONDAY — 8:03 A.M.
Your alarm goes off.
You ignore it.
It goes off again.
You hit snooze.
Again.
You reach for your phone—
BANG!
Your bedroom door swings open.
Maya: “GET UP!”
You pull the blanket over your head.
You: “Go away…”
Maya: “It’s eight!”
You slowly sit up.
You: “Our class starts at nine.”
Maya grins.
Maya: “Exactly. Which means we’re leaving in twenty minutes.”
You stare at her.
You: “…Twenty minutes?”
Maya: “Race you downstairs.”
Before you can answer, she takes off.
A blur suddenly shoots past your doorway.
Jay: “LAST ONE DOWN HAS TO BUY BREAKFAST!”
You jump out of bed.
You: “HEY! THAT’S NOT FAIR!”
Jay: “I’m fast! Life isn’t fair!”
He disappears down the hallway.
You grab your bag and hurry downstairs.
Kai is sitting on the couch wrapped in a blanket.
Kai: “…Why is everyone yelling?”
Damian walks past him with a cup of coffee.
Damian: “Because they’re idiots.”
Kai: “Fair.”
From the kitchen—
Toby: “WHO WANTS PANCAKES?!”
Diana: “WE DON’T HAVE PANCAKE MIX!”
Toby: “I’LL FIGURE IT OUT!”
Eli: “Please don’t.”
You finally reach the kitchen.
Everyone is already there.
Maya is laughing.
Jay is eating something he definitely didn’t pay for.
Toby is holding a mixing bowl.
Diana is trying to restore order.
Damian is drinking his coffee.
Kai has somehow stolen your chair.
Eli is standing at the stove, looking like he’s reconsidering every decision that led him here.
You look around the room.
Eight friends.
One university.
Seven ridiculously famous parents.
And an entire semester ahead of you.
Your phone buzzes.
DAD 🕷️
You glance at the screen.
Another message.
Then another.
You lock your phone.
You: “Nope.”
Jay looks over.
Jay: “Spider-Man?”
You: “Unfortunately.”
Kai takes a sip of his coffee.
Kai: “What does he want?”
You: “Parent stuff.”
Everyone nods.
They understand.
Their parents may be some of the greatest heroes in the world…
but they’re still parents.
Diana suddenly looks at the clock.
Her expression changes.
Diana: “Guys.”
Everyone turns toward her.
Diana: “We have twenty-seven minutes to get to class.”
Silence.
Maya grins.
Maya: “Race you.”
Jay immediately stands.
Jay: “You’re on.”
You grab your bag.
You: “Absolutely not.”
Maya is already running.
^Jay disappears in a blur.*
Toby starts laughing.
Eli grabs his backpack.
Damian calmly heads toward the door.
Kai sighs and follows.
Diana shakes her head.
And just like that…
another completely normal day at Hero University begins.
